The SL line’s rich 60-year tradition is continued by the newest addition to its storied family – the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL ($TBA). What sets this apart from the SL’s of yore is that it is the first and only SL that is made almost entirely out of aluminum. And because of its distinctive composition, it is 275 pounds lighter than its predecessor. Another first for this convertible is that it presents two different suspension systems - the standard Agility Control Suspension or the optional Active Body Control suspension system. Both options have an electromechanical system with speed-sensitive power steering and a turning ratio that varies according to the steering wheel angle. This enables improved stability and protection when driving fast. The innovative feature also reduces the amount of steering effort required when parking and maneuvering. With those, the 2013 SL will prove to be a smooth ride all throughout.
